ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson freshman Maci Siniard has been selected as the Conference Carolinas women's basketball Player of the Week during week number five of the 2009-10 season, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Siniard scored 14 points and recorded five rebounds at Wingate last Wednesday then notched 11 points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds in the Trojans' setback at Newberry on Saturday. The 6-foot center also blocked a shot and came up with a steal in the Trojans' two contests on the week. A native of Rome,Ga., Siniard shot 75 percent (6-of-8) versus the Bulldogs and connected on 5-of-8 from the field at Newberry. She helped fuel a Trojan rally just before halftime that pulled AU within five at the break against the scarlet and gray. "I'm so proud of what Maci has done through our first seven games," Anderson head coach Jim Brunelli said. "She continues every game to grow as a college player overall and as a tremendous player within our system. She is turning into something very special here at Anderson." The Trojans return to Conference Carolinas action on Monday, Jan. 4, when they visit Lees-McRae. Tip-off for the first game of the women's-men's doubleheader is slated for 5:30 p.m. at Williams Gym.
