ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson University softball team will finalize its regular season home schedule when they host South Atlantic Conference nemesis Catawba on Saturday. First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. at the AU Softball Complex.

SERIES HISTORY
Overall Record - Catawba leads 10-7 (2009-2015)
• The Trojans and Indians have met 17 times on the diamond,
with all but two of the meetings occurring since Anderson joined
the South Atlantic Conference in 2011. Catawba swept the first two
doubleheaders in 2009 and 2011, splitting the 2012 doubleheader
with Anderson winning the rubber match in the SAC Tournament. The
Trojans swept each of the 2013 and 2014 doubleheaders and a 2014
SAC Tournament game. However, in 2015 Catawba defeated the Trojans
on five different occasions. The Indians swept the regular season
matchup, won the SAC Tournament Championship game and then defeated
the Trojans in both of the NCAA Southeast Region meetings.
ANDERSON OVERVIEW
• Anderson is coming off of a doubleheader swept over
Tusculum.
• Sophomore Cailah Niles leads the team in batting with a .440
average, nine doubles, 10 home runs and 45 RBI.
• Sophomore Carli Hurtado is batting .326 with a .428 on base
percentage. Hurtado has also swiped 13 out of 15 bases this
season.
• The Trojans are led by 11th year head coach Tommy
Hewitt.
CATAWBA OVERVIEW
• The Indians are batting .281 as a team while opponents are
batting a mere .192 on the season.
• Leading Catawba at the plate is junior Kristen Stinnard with
a .388 average that includes three doubles and three triples.
• Senior pitcher Carley Tysinger (24-5) sports a 0.78 ERA
striking out an impressive 296 batters on the season, just shy of
her 2015 record of 325 total strikeouts in a single season.
• The Indians are currently on a five game win streak after
having their 11 game win streak snapped by a 1-0 loss to
Lenoir-Rhyne on April 5th.
• Catawba is led by 33rd year head coach Nan Whitley.
QUICK HITS
• Sophomore Randee Bettis picked up two saves on Wednesday
versus Tusculum.
• Hurtado has reached base safely in 39 out of 42 games this
year.
• The Trojans are 22-8 on their home turf this season.
• Sophomore Rachael Barefield hit two home runs on the day
versus Tusculum accomplishing that same feat against Mars Hill
earlier in the season.
TROJANS AMOUNG SAC LEADERS
• Niles leads SAC in total RBI with 45.
• Niles and Barefield are tied for 2nd in home runs with
10.
• Niles is batting .440 which lands her in the top spot in the
SAC.
• Lauren Rudesheim, Pena and Bettis are tied for first with
three saves apiece.
• Pena ranks fifth in both total strikeouts (130) and ERA
(1.90).
TROJAN SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
Molly Child is the lone senior for the Black and Gold and will be
honored on Saturday between the doubleheader. During her stellar
career Molly has been a tremendous leader and teammate while
etching her place in many season and career stats for Anderson
softball.
