Burton Finishes Fifth in 200 Meter Finals at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

BRADENTON, Fla. – A day after earning First-Team All-America honors with his performance in the preliminary round of the 200 meter dash, Anderson University's Christopher Burton finished fifth in the finals of the 200 meter dash at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are being hosted by the University of Tampa and IMG Academy.

Burton, who posted the fourth-fastest time (20:84) in the nation in Division II during the season, notched a time of 21:40 while competing against seven other runners on the final day of the championships.

A native of Johnston, S.C., Burton is the reigning South Atlantic Conference titleholder in both the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash. He was a two-time
AstroTurf SAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week after claiming first place in the 100 meter and 200 meter dash at both the Emory Classic and the Montreat Invitational in late March.

Burton was named the AU Male Athlete of the Year last month and captured First-Team All-Conference honors when he won the South Atlantic Conference Championships in record time.
