Field Events Headline Opening Day at Susan Rouse Invitational

CENTRAL, S.C. – The Anderson men's and women's track and field teams opened competition at Southern Wesleyan's Susan Rouse Invitational, Friday afternoon with a pair of Trojans taking the top spot in the hammer throw.

Junior Anthony Aleruchi won the men's hammer throw with a toss of 41.60 meters, while freshman Chandler Johnson finished seventh with a distance of 28.40 meters. Sophomore Jolyn Copeland won the women's hammer throw with a distance of 36.78 meters, with senior Philip DeGraaf finished tied for second in the pole vault with a height of 3.75 meters.

Senior Eric Hoover claimed third in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 46.36 meters, with DeGraaf finishing fourth with a toss of 43.40 meters. Junior Vojtech Velecky finished sixth with a distance of 39.10 meters.

The two-day event is slated to resume Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with the men's and women's long jump.
