Track and Field Competes at JDL College Kick-off Classic

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Anderson University men's and women's track and field teams combined to post eight top-20 marks, including a pair of top-10 finishes at the 2016 JDL College Kick-off Classic on Saturday.

Sophomore JoLyn Copeland finished 17th in the women's weight throw with a distance of 11.18 meters and 25th in the shot put with a toss of 9.34 meters, with freshman Jasmine Barmore capturing 42nd place in the women's 200 meters in a time of 27.74. Freshman Emilee Edwards finished 52nd in a time of 1:05.10 in the women's 400 meters.

Senior Bari Robinson crossed the finish line in 14th place in a time of 2:28.95 in the women's 800 meters, while freshman Rebecca Faircloth finished 25th in a time of 2:32.65. Freshman Emily Pitts was just behind in 28th in a time of 2:34.87 and sophomore Madison Seay was 32nd in a time of 2:37.24.

Freshman Matthew Shoup claimed 16th in the men's high jump with a height of 1.80 meters, while senior Eric Hoover finished 15th in the men's triple jump with a distance of 12.60 meters.

Junior Christopher Burton finished fourth in the men's 200 meters in a time of 22.41 and freshman Jordan Anderson was 30th in a time of 23.92. Fellow junior Anthony Aleruchi was 16th in the men's weight throw with a toss of 11.34 meters and claimed 28th in the shot put with a distance of 11.97 meters.

Junior Rashod Monts finished 37th in the men's 400 meters in a time of 52.81, with freshman Sean Rickard (54.95) claiming 52nd. Sophomore Luke Rochester finished 14th with a height of 3.85 meters in the men's pole vault. The Trojans finished 10th in the men's 4 x 400 meter relay.

The Trojans return to action, Saturday, Jan. 7 at Clemson's Orange and Purple Classic.
