Windley Named Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University men's soccer head coach Michael Zion has announced the hiring of former High Point standout and assistant coach Josh Windley as the team's new assistant coach, announced by Zion on Tuesday.

Windley spent last season on the High Point men's soccer staff for his first year in the collegiate coaching ranks, as he helped lead a turnaround with the program when the Panthers closed the year with a 10-8-2 overall record and finished third in the Big South Conference. In the season prior to Windley's arrival, HPU finished with an even 8-8-3 mark.

"We're excited for Josh to be on campus," Zion said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge to our program coming from a traditionally good Division I team in High Point. He has a strong passion for this game and will bring a lot of positive energy into the team. I really am looking forward to working with him for the upcoming season."

During his time on the Panther coaching staff, Windley was the Assistant Director of Coaching for Piedmont Triad Futbol Club where he dipped into many facets including field maintenance, scheduling, marketing and planning and organizing practice sessions for all the teams within the organization. The Greensboro, N.C. native also helped with the U13-14 team as the group director and was the U-10 Academy Boys' Director.

During his time at Piedmont Triad Futbol Club, Windley also worked with the North Carolina Olympic Development Program in Greensboro where he was the assistant coach for the '00 Boy's State Team.

On the field, Windley shined for the Panthers from 2004-08, as he was named to the Big South All-Freshman Team following his first season and eventually landed on the all-conference team in 2006. In his final season with HPU, Windley was named the team's captain and scored twice to close out his collegiate career.

In the classroom, Windley received his Bachelor's from High Point in 2008 in Human Relations, while also mentoring his players at High Point to a team GPA of 3.2 this past fall semester.

Following his time at High Point, Windley spent a year playing professionally with the West Virginia Chaos in Charleston, W.Va. of the Premier Development League.

Windley comes to Anderson having earned his United States Soccer Federation "D" License in 2012 and late earning the United States Soccer Federation "C" License last year.

AU is currently in its spring, non-championship season and will return to the pitch this fall beginning in early September.
