WINTER PARK, Fla. - Despite sophomore Brad Du Plooy's first half goal, giving Anderson University men's soccer an early 1-0, the Trojans were unable to fend over No. 5 ranked Rollins, as the Tars defeated AU 3-1 Thursday evening at Barker Family Stadium.

To go along with Du Plooy's goal, the Trojan attack was led by sophomore forward Aaron Roberson with two shots on the night with one troubling winning goalkeeper Julian Grundler. Joining Du Plooy and Roberson with shots on goal were newcomers Magnus Larsen and Andres Lozano and graduate student Bernd Muxel.

In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Bo Haug made three saves in a losing effort, while his counterpart, Grundler, finished the match with four saves.

To open up the match, Du Plooy put Anderson on the scoreboard in the fourth minute when Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference First Team honoree Lars Zimmerman placed a cross into the Tar box. The ball found its way to Du Plooy in the box and the midfielder handed AU an early advantage. For Zimmerman, the assist was his second of his career.

Despite heading into halftime with a 1-0 lead, the Rollins attack found life in the final period as Tar attacker Rob Crowley evened the score in the 51st minute when he found space at the top of the AU box. Crowley fired a shot past Haug for Rollins' first goal of the regular season.

In the 69th minute, Rollins took its first lead of the contest when Grant Blackhurst got past the Anderson backline and put a shot behind Haug. Following the eventual game-winning goal, the Tars added their final tally of the evening when Brett Durrance received a cross from Crowley and knocked in a shot to close the match.

For the match, the Black and Gold were outshot by the home-side, 17-9, headlined by an 11-shot mark in the second half. Six of the Tars' 17 shots came on goal.

With the loss, Anderson's struggles in the state of Florida increased as the Trojans have gone winless in the state since the 2011 season. Following a 4-1 win over Palm Beach Atlantic during the 2011 season, the Trojans are 0-3-1 when playing inside the Sunshine State. The loss also spoils the head coaching debut of Michael Zion, who took over head coaching duties in late April.

AU looks to get into the win column on Saturday when it travels to Flagler. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
