Legacy Charter School to host Free College Soccer Exhibition Game between Limestone and Anderson

GREENVILLE, SC -- Legacy Charter School will host Limestone College and Anderson University in a FREE men's college soccer exhibition game on Friday, Aug. 22. The game will take place on Legacy's the new artificial turf field made possible by a $79,200 grant from the U.S. Soccer Foundation. Festivities begin at 6:30 pm. Halftime includes a penalty kick contest for kids. Prizes and concessions will be available.

"We know the game will be a good preseason match," said Legacy Athletic Director BJ Jackson. "With two of the best Division II teams in the region squaring off against each other, we expect the atmosphere to be electric."

Coming off back-to-back Conference Carolinas Regular Season and Tournament Championships, the Limestone College men's soccer team will start the season ranked No. 21 in the NSCAA Division II Preseason Poll (golimestonesaints.com).

"We are honored to play on a field supported by the U.S. Soccer Foundation and help promote the impressive work that both Legacy Charter and the U.S. Soccer Foundation are doing in the Greenville area. And, most importantly, we always enjoy sharing our sport," said Limestone Head Coach, Eric Alsop.

Anderson University men's soccer earned its fourth straight trip to the South Atlantic Conference Tournament championship last season. With six experienced seniors and acclaimed new talent rounding out the team, Anderson's schedule will be one to watch (autrojans.com).

"We are very excited for the opportunity to play at Legacy Charter. The recently added soccer facility is fantastic," said Anderson's Head Coach, Michael Zion. "We look forward to creating a great experience for the community."
