ANDERSON, S.C. - Recording 11 shots on the day, Anderson University men's soccer were unable to find the back of the net as the Trojans suffered its fourth setback of the season, falling to Mars Hill, 1-0, in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.

The loss pushes AU to below .500 for the first time since the start of the season, dropping to 3-4 on the year and an even 2-2 in league play. Mars Hill, which has won its last two matches at Trojan Stadium dating back to 2010, improved to an identical 3-4 overall record with a 3-1 mark for SAC matches.

Despite Anderson's 11 shots on the afternoon, just two made their way on goal with both coming from forward Andre Carle. Carle led the Trojan attack with four shots while teammate Magnus Larsen added three. Graduate student Bernd Muxel totaled two shots, while Lars Zimmerman and Hodaka Yonezawa each recorded one.

In the first half, the Trojans outshot the visitors, 6-3, but were unable to find the match's opening goal. As AU goalkeeper Bo Haug and his counterpart, Chris Mitchell, posting a save apiece for the first 45 minutes, the match went into halftime, scoreless.

Six minutes into the second half, Mars Hill received its eventual game-winner from the team's leading goal scorer from a season ago, Alex Mullen. Mullen brought down a cross from teammate Amine Merdjett and beat Haug to his right for the goal. For Mullen, the tally was his second of the 2014 campaign.

Trying to push attackers to the MHU box following the goal, Anderson tallied four shots for the remainder of the match, but came up empty. Carle's last chance came in the 89th minute when his shot bounced twice before Mitchell corralled the ball for his second save of the day.

The Trojans return to action on Wednesday as they step away from their SAC schedule and travel to nationally-ranked Young Harris. Kickoff from the Peach State is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
