Men’s Golf Set for Southern Tide Classic

ANDERSON, S.C. – Following a three-week layoff since posting a strong showing in north Florida, the Anderson University men's golf team is slated to get back on the links Monday and Tuesday at the Southern Tide Classic, which is being hosted by Limestone at the Green Valley Country Club in Travelers Rest, S.C.

A year ago, the two-day, 54-hole event featured a 6,763 yard, par-71 layout.

Barton, King, Belmont Abbey, North Greenville, Southern Wesleyan, North Georgia, Erskine and Coker are expected to join the Trojans and host Saints in this year's field.

Through five events this year, freshman Reece Coleman paces the Trojans with a 71.77 unadjusted stroke average and has finished in the top-11 on four occasions, including a pair of runner-up performances. A native of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Coleman carded a team-low round of 66 in the second round of the Donald Ross Intercollegiate back in mid-October.

Senior Jake Miller is close on Coleman's heels with a 72.00 unadjusted stroke average through 13 rounds. The Anderson, S.C., native owns a pair of fifth-place finishes, while finishing sixth at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate and eighth at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate in February. Freshman Anthony Sutton owns a 74.70 unadjusted stroke average and claimed a season-best seventh-place finish at the AU Invitational last September.

This will mark AU's fourth consecutive appearance at the two-day event, with the Trojans finishing 13th in last season's appearance. Jake Miller paced AU with a three-round, 1-under-par 213.

Lincoln Memorial won the 2019 team title after leading wire-to-wire, with Coker and Carson-Newman sharing second place. Limestone finished fourth, while Queens was fifth. Clayton State and Flagler finished sixth and seventh, respectively, while Southern Wesleyan finished eighth and Erskine claimed ninth place.

North Greenville, King, North Georgia, Anderson, Belmont Abbey and Limestone "B" rounded out the 15-team field last year.

Carson-Newman's Tom Forster won the individual title by four strokes over Limestone's Filip Sandberg, with Lincoln Memorial's Dan Bradbury claiming third place.

Miller finished in a four-way tie for ninth, with Colt Martin claiming a share of 53rd place.
