Miller Finishes in a Tie for 32nd Place at South Carolina Men’s State Amateur Championship

GREER, S.C. – Anderson University men's golfer Jake Miller finished in a tie for 32nd place after firing an even-par 71 in Sunday's final round of the 88th South Carolina Golf Association (SCGA) Men's State Amateur Championship.

The 72-hole, four-day event was hosted at the 6,703 yard, par-71 Thornblade Club.

Tyler Gray (Lugoff, S.C.), a rising sophomore at Coastal Carolina, carded a four-round 268 and held off Kershaw's Logan Sewell to claim the title by four shots. First-round leader Jake Carter, a rising senior at Florida State, finished alone in third place following a four-round 273.

Miller (71+71+71+71=284), who will begin his senior campaign on the links at next month's AU Invitational at Cobb's Glen Country Club, shared the 32nd spot with a trio of other golfers among the 71-player field that remained following last Friday's cut.

The Anderson, S.C., native bogeyed the fifth hole, along with No. 12 and No. 15, but countered by carding birdies on No. 1 and No. 14 for the second time of the tournament. He also notched a birdie on the par-3 sixth hole for the second time in four rounds.
