TAZEWELL, Tenn. - The Anderson men's golf team wrapped up its fall schedule with an eighth-place finish at the Lincoln Memorial Fall Invitational hosted by LMU at the 6,771yard, par-72 Woodlake Golf Course.
The Trojans' Chase Epting (70-69=139) challenged for the top spot after firing a three-under on the day and finished just two shots off the pace set by Tusculum's Nick York. Epting began the day three strokes out of the lead, but stayed close on the final day of action to finish in a three-way tie for second. He was named to the All-Tournament team for his efforts.
AU freshman Arran Setro (75-75=150) was consistent for his six-over total in the event and finished with a share of 30th, while Jacob Yoon (74-80=154) slipped into a tie for 43rd with his final round eight-over par on the final day. Newcomer Sean Shelton (77-78=155) finished one shot further back, while Austin Carney (79-77=156) was just a stroke behind Shelton, as the pair finished tied for 52nd and 57th, respectively.
Tusculum shot a final-round 282 to capture the team championship as the Pioneers finished the tournament with a two-round total of 572 (290-282, -4). Cape Fear Community College were second with a 578 (292-283, +2), followed by the LMU White team with a 584 (289-295, +8). King College (288-301, +13) fell from first to tie for fourth with North Greenville University (295-294, +13) with 589, followed by Catawba College's 590 (302-288, +14).
The LMU Blue team finished seventh with a 592 (291-301, +16).
Anderson was eighth overall, followed by Limestone College (599).
Brevard College and Walters State Community College both posted 601
to tie for tenth place. Tennessee Wesleyan College (608) was 12th,
followed by Lenoir-Rhyne University (617), the University of
Virginia's College at Wise (651) and Hiwassee College (681).
