Men's Golf Team Moves Up Two Spots In Final Round

WILSON, N.C. -- The Anderson College men's golf team shot a 304 in Tuesday's final round of the Atlantic Regional to move up two spots in the standings. Anderson finished the 36-hole event at the par-72, 6,800-yard Wilson Country Club with a total of 614 and in a tie for fifth place with Queens (N.C.) Host Barton shot a 299 in the second round for a total of 592 and a six-shot victory over Pfeiffer. The victory earns the Bulldogs a trip to the NCAA Division II national tournament in Orlando, Fla. Following Pfeiffer (598) were Coker 604, and St. Andrews Presbyterian 606. Anderson was led in the final round by Kyle Owings, who closed out his career with a 74 for a 36-hole total of 147. Owings, a native of Pauline, S.C., finish in a tie for seventh in the individual standings. Anderson's other three scores in the second round were Denton Moore 75, Brad Eskierka 76, and Curtis Norwood 79. Josh Talton of Barton birdied the first playoff hole to earn medalist honors. Talton, Dion Sirrianni of Lees-McRae, and Courtney Faircloth of Barton all finished 36 holes tied at even-par 144.
