Men's Golf Team Struggles At Catawba

SALISBURY, N.C. - Matthew Cram-Smith shot a final round 68 to earn medalist honors and help Carson-Newman to the championship of the Richard Rendleman Invitational Tournament held at the 6,665-yard, par-71 Salisbury Country Club. The two-day event, hosted by Catawba College, concluded on Tuesday. Host Catawba finished fifth out of the 15 team field. The Eagles finished the first round tied with eventual runner-up UNC-Pembroke, but Smith's three-under-par round helped Carson-Newman fire a three-over-par 287 as a team to win by 13 shots over the Braves. Carson-Newman had a two-day total of 582. Francis Marion and Tusculum tied for third on 601, while Catawba had a 604 total. Anderson shot a two-day total of 632 (314-318) to finish 15th in the 15-team field. Anderson's leader was Kyle Owings. Owings shot 82-73 to finish in tie for 33rd. Anderson Results T33.
