Trojans Shoot School Record 294 To Take Title

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson College shot a school-record 294 in the final round to take an eight-shot victory in the second annual AC Invitational Tuesday afternoon at the Brookstone Golf Club. The victory was AC's first as a four-year program and the first for new head coach Danny Neal. AC finished the 36-hole event at the par-72, 6,685-yard Brookstone course at 592, eight shots in front of Southern Wesleyan (600). Spartanburg Methodist was third at 618, Walters State was fourth at 621, Lincoln Memorial was fifth at 629, and Wingate was sixth at 646. AC's 592 total also is a school record. All five of AC's scores in the second round were 75 or better. Kyle Owings led the Trojans with a 72. He was followed by Denton Moore with a 73, Jon Ferguson with a 74, and Andrew Corley with a 75. Peter Campbell of Southern Wesleyan won the individual title by three shots over Moore. Campbell posted his second consecutive 70 for a 36-hole total of 4-under 140. Moore (70-73), who was one shot out of the lead entering the day, was 6-under for the tournament standing on No. 18 tee. But he lost a ball and took a 9 on the final hole to finish three shots back. First-round leader Jeremiah Daniels (69-75) of Walters State and Brian Rush (70-74) of Southern Wesleyan finished in a tie for third at 144. AC Invitational Results
