Trojans Lead By Two After First Round

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Denton Moore fired a 2-under 70 to lead Anderson College to a two-shot lead after the first round of the second annual AC Invitational at the Brookstone Meadows Golf Club Monday. AC shot 298, one shot off the school record for low round, to lead Southern Wesleyan (301) by two shots. Spartanburg Methodist is third at 306, Walters State and Wingate are tied for fourth at 309, and Lincoln Memorial is sixth at 312. Jeremiah Daniels of Walters State shot a 3-under 69 to take the first-round individual lead over three players -- Moore, Brian Rush of Spartanburg Methodist and Peter Campbell of Southern Wesleyan. Daniels made the turn at 1-under par then had a wild ride on the back nine -- three birdies, one eagle on No. 18, and three bogeys. Moore also made the turn at 1-under then made two birdies and one bogey on the back. Matt Rogers of Wingate, who shot a 73, had the highlight of the day -- a hole-in-one on No. 11. AC's other individual scores were: Kyle Owings 75, Andrew Corley 76, and Brad Eskierka and Jon Ferguson 77. The final round will be play Tuesday morning beginning at 9 a.m.
