BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Anderson University rallied in the second half to beat Lees-McRae College 60-56 in a Conference Carolinas game Monday night in the Williams Gymnasium. Nick Trull and Kevis Cornwell scored 14 points apiece to lead the Trojans, 4-6 overall and 2-1 in the conference. Trull was 4-of-9 behind the 3-point line and Cornwell was 6-for-9 from the field. Brandon Young had 13 points, and Trey Britton had 10 points and nine rebounds. Kyle Boardman led the way for the Bobcats with 15 points. Aaron Woodarce tallied 12 points, and Sam Youse scored 11 and collected nine rebounds. Woodarce scored all 12 of his points in the first half and was held to just one shot in the second half. In the first half, the Bobcats jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the first seven minutes after two Sam Youse free throws, but Steven Cobb drilled a 3-point basket on the next possession for the Trojans to close the gap to four points. With 8:15 left in the half, Trull hit a 3-point basket to bring Anderson within one -- 21-20. With 7:14 left, Trull knocked down another trey to give the Trojans a 23-21 lead. With 2:36 left in the half, Woodarce converted a four-point play to give the Bobcats the lead, 30-29. After two more threes by Woodacre, Lees-McRae took a 36-31 lead at the half. Opening the second half, the Bobcats increased their lead when Youse picked off a pass and took it in for a jam. On the next Trojan possession, Hoots picked off a pass and fed Sean Hardin for a slam to give the Bobcats a 10-point lead -- 43-33 -- with 15:15 remaining in the game. After a Trojan timeout, Anderson went on a 12-2 run to tie the game at 45 on a another Trull trey with 8:20 left. Anderson would take the lead for good at the seven-minute mark when Trull sank his sank his fourth and final trey to give the Trojans a 48-47 lead. Young scored the final ten points for the Trojans.
