Trojans Open Homestand with Loss to Emmanuel

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson baseball team opened a six-game homestand with a 10-2 nonconference loss to Emmanuel, Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium.

Anderson slipped to 16-27 with its second loss in three decisions, while Emmanuel (21-24) snapped a four-game skid with the win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Junior Cody Adams notched three of the Trojans' five hits on the night, with three singles and a double. He also scored once and drove in a run. Designated hitter Brandon Odachowski and left-fielder Matthew Overton each added a double.

Junior left-hander Brent Reynolds (1-3) drew the start on the mound and took the loss after allowing three runs on eight hits over three innings of work. He walked one and struck out one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Emmanuel built a three-run lead with a run in the first and two more in the top of the third frame, with the Trojans countering with a solo run in the bottom of the third on Odachowski's sixth double of the season that plated Adams.

The Lions added another run in the fifth inning, while Adams' double to the wall in center field in the bottom of the fifth scored Daniel Blazejewski all the way from first to trim the deficit to 4-2.

But the Trojans' bats went silent over the next four innings, while Emmanuel added three runs in the sixth, two in the eighth and another solo run in the top of the ninth.

NOTABLES
Brandon Odachowski extended his hitting streak to three games.
Will Lindsey notched two walks on the night and has reached base safely in four straight games.
