Carpenter Earns AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the second time this season, Anderson University standout Christian Carpenter has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday Morning.

Carpenter made three relief appearances last week, while earning two saves in two opportunities in last Saturday's SAC doubleheader at Lenoir-Rhyne. The right-handed closer began the week by allowing just two hits in three innings of relief in last Monday's loss to Lincoln Memorial. He struck out five Railsplitters and walked just two.

The Polkton, N.C., native followed up by earning saves in both ends of the Trojans' sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne, Saturday afternoon. Carpenter tossed a combined 2 1/3 innings of perfect relief, by not allowing a hit or walking a batter, while fanning three.

Carpenter is second in the SAC with five saves and has not allowed a run in 14.2 innings over the course of eight relief appearances. He has recorded 18 strikeouts while walking just eight batters and has limited opposing batters to a .130 batting average.
