Women’s Cross Country Claims Eighth at Eye Opener

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Anderson women's cross country team earned an eighth- place finish at USC Upstate's 29th annual Eye Opener Invitational Friday night at Milliken Research Park.

Competing against 25 other teams over the 5k distance, the Trojans were paced by senior Emily Eckroth's time of 20:55.65, which placed her in 30th. Sophomore Sydney Hazel (21:48.35) crossed the line in 50th, while junior Hannah Robles (21:57.60) finished in 54th.

Senior Amanda Mahaffey finished 74th with a time of 22:41.06, with junior Rachel Westberry (22:45.79) earned 77th and sophomore Madison Guest was just behind in 79th with a time of 22:50.93. Freshman Devan Fisher (24:36.63) rounded out the Trojan effort in 111th.

Anderson will have two weeks off before getting back on the trails Friday, Sept. 14, when the Trojans visit Rock Hill, S.C. for the adidas/Winthrop Invitational.

Results
