Track Teams Compete At Niswonger Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, T.N. - The men's and women's track teams competed this past weekend at the Niswonger Invitational at East Tennessee State University. Lauren Sloan, a freshman from Reynoldsburg Ohio, led the Lady Trojans with a seventh place finish in the shot put. Sloan's throw of 40 feet was a personal best, and the second farthest throw in school history. Freshman, Candace Homer finished in the top twenty in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:29.98. Junior, Alex Jordan led the men's team. Jordan a junior from Grove City, Ohio had a top 25 finish in the men's mile with a time of 4:35.07. Greg Loftis ran a career best of 4:56.13 in the men's mile. Nate Parsons started his season strong with a top 40 finish in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:19.76. The Niswonger Invitational meet showcased collegiate, post collegiate and professional athletes. Over 1,400 athletes from 105 teams competed in the two-day event.
