Track Teams Compete At Clemson, Cumberland

The Anderson University track and field teams participated in two meets last weekend. The throwers participated in a meet at Clemson, S.C., while the rest of the team attended a meet at Cumberland, Ky. At Clemson, Anderson had three placers: -- For the women, Egle Bauzaite finished in eighth in the javelin with a school record throw of 88-10. -- For the men, Justin Smith finished in fifth in the javelin, breaking his old school record with a throw of 149-8, and Rayon Markland finished 10th in the javelin with a throw of 148-9. At Cumberland, Anderson placed in several events: The AU women's team finished sixth in the meet. -- Katelyn Rodgers won the high jump with a school record jump of 5-4. -- Kurtina Ricketts took fourth place in the 100 (12.92), and finished second in the 200 (26.88). -- Ashley Blome took fourth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.08. -- Chelsea Rogers (2:29.56) and Lynne Flint (2:29.71) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 800. -- Ashley McClellion finished in 10th place in the 5,000 meters with a time of 20:11.05. The AU men's team also finished sixth in the Cumberland meet. -- Alex Jordan finished second in the 1,500 (4:12.16), and sixth in the 5,000 (16:07.33). -- Aaron LaGarde finished first in the triple jump (46-8), third in the 400-meter hurdles (58.31), and fifth in the long jump (21-8). -- Jason Bryan finished fifth in the 5,000 with a personal best time of 15:58.59. Anderson's next meet is the Tri-Conference Championships this weekend at Lees-McRae.
