SALISBURY, N.C. – Anderson University men's and women's tennis team did not lose a set against South Atlantic Conference opponent defeating the Indians, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center.
The Anderson men's team (2-1, 1-0 SAC) dominated play in the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles portion with the No. 2 spot, Greyson Doscotch and Julian Kenzlers battling hard to defeat Damir Zababuryn and Tyler Juergens, 7-5.
AU won all six of its singles matches with only the No. 5 position going into a third set.
AU women's tennis team (3-1,1-0 SAC) won the doubles portion, with All-SAC Preseason duo Anna Greer and Katie Robeson defeating Veronika Poliakova and Carolina Correia, 6-2.
During singles play, the top four spots cruised to victory. Laura Alverz Tello, slotted No. 5 dropped her first set, 6-4, but stormed right back winning set 2, 6-1, and set 3, 6-2.
The Trojans gave the Cougars an extremely competitive match, dropping No. 1 doubles 7-6 and No. 2 and No. 3, 6-4.
In singles actions, AU's Cathrine Blouin and Katie Robeson forced three sets, before surrendering the point. AU's Val Borda grabbed a win in the No. sixth position defeating Agostina Bigotti, 6-3, 6-3. 6. Val Borda hung tough to defeat Lena Friedrich, 8-5, to complete the sweep.
Anderson returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to nonconference opponent North Georgia. First-serve is set for 2 pm.
