ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University Director of Tennis, Joey Eskridge, has released his men's and women's 2022 tennis schedules.
"I feel really good about our upcoming season this Spring," said Eskridge.
"The guys are returning all but two starters from last years team that had a great run at the Conference tournament," stated Eskridge. "The new additions we have made with recruiting for this season will help us be successful, if we can stay healthy."
"The women are stronger than ever," said Eskridge. "We have great depth and some super seniors that I think will help us achieve great results this spring on the court."
"Looking forward to January when we can get back on the court to prepare for our upcoming season," added Eskridge.
The 2021 Anderson men's tennis team finished its season (12-4, 8-3 SAC) making a run at the SAC Tournament title by defeating Lenoir-Rhyne (quarterfinals) and Wingate (semifinals). The Trojans came up just short in the SAC Finals, falling to Tusculum.
The 2021 Anderson women's tennis team finished the season (9-5, 5-5 SAC) narrowly missing out on the SAC Tournament. Returners Anna Greer and Katie Robeson earning All-SAC Honorable Mention honors in doubles play and Greer earning All-SAC Second Team singles.
This year's schedule features nine home matches, highlighted by welcoming traditional powerhouse Columbus State to open up the season. The Black and Gold will also host nonconference opponents Converse and Augusta and play one neutral match versus NC A&T. Anderson will also play host to conference opponents Mars Hill, UVA Wise, Newberry, Queens, Lenoir-Rhyne and Carson-Newman.
The Trojans are scheduled for eight road trips. Nonconference travels plans include North Georgia, Young Harris (men) and Erskine (women), while the conference itinerary involves Catawba, Tusculum, Limestone, Coker, Lincoln Memorial and Wingate.
Anderson opens up the 2022 campaign at home against nonconference opponent Columbus State. First-serve for both the men and women is 2 pm at the AU Tennis Complex.
