Vaughan, Cabo and Maxwell Named Jimmy John’s Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C.  – Spain Vaughn, a member of the Anderson University men's track and field team, Aaron Cabo a member of the men's tennis team and Laken Maxwell a member of the softball team were named the Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week.

Vaughan, a freshman from Greer, S.C., set an Anderson school record in the 1500m at the Electric City Invitational by winning the event in a time of 3:54.08. Vaughan has had an impressive freshman campaign, as he has broken the mile run school record twice as well as the 3,000m record.

Cabo, a senior from Valencia, Spain, played an iatrical role clinching the match against Carson-Newman to help keep the men's tennis team claim an undefeated season at home. Cabo and the men's tennis team begin SAC Tournament play on Thursday.

Maxwell, a sophomore pitcher, helped the Trojans improve to a 35-5 record on the season and 2-0 record on the week while playing 13 total innings. Overall, the Bowdon, Ga., native walked away with only six hits and two walks, while striking out 21 moving her overall record to 19-3 on the season. This is Maxwell's fourth Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.

Each week, male and female student-athletes are honored as the Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week for their performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
