Anderson, S.C.- The Anderson women's lacrosse team fell to the Limestone Saints 15-8 on Saturday afternoon. The Trojans held their own playing competitively with an experienced Saints team.

Anderson beat the Saints 15-12 in draw controls but only converted on two of eight free position shots and lost the ball 17 times on turnovers compared to Limestone's 14 turnovers.

How it Happened- Scoring Summary

The Saints opened the first quarter with a man-down goal. Alicia Cannon answered with a free position goal before Limestone finished the period with another goal taking a 2-1 lead heading into the second quarter. Limestone scored first again to start the second period before Gwen Ontiveros scored off an assist from Alexis Lopos. Lili Bouwma followed with another goal off an assist from Laine Stanton to tie the game at three. The Saints scored three more before the half while the Trojans only netted one more to head into halftime with Limestone up 6-4.

The Saints opened the second half with an unassisted goal. Gwen Ontiveros scored two for the Trojans in the third quarter but the black and gold fell by four before the end of the third quarter unable to overcome the deficit. Cassidy Jones scored less than a minute into the fourth period off an assist from Alicia Cannon but the Trojans wouldn't score again until the final two minutes when Hannah Thomas scored a man-down goal from Cassidy Jones. With the Saints' five goals in the final period, the Trojans couldn't overcome the deficit.

Kora Turner had nine saves and two ground balls.

Gwen Ontiveros led Anderson scorers with three goals and one ground ball.

Alicia Cannon had two goals, one assist, one ground ball, and 10 draw controls.

Hannah Thomas had one goal, five draw controls, and two caused turnovers.

Cassidy Jones had one goal and one assist.

Lili Bouwma had one goal.
