Anderson, S.C.- The Anderson Women's Lacrosse team established an early lead and never let up on Saturday afternoon against the Hawks from Chowan. Three early goals from the Trojans set the tone for a dominant 22-2 victory for the black and gold.

The Trojans came into Saturday's game looking to get back in the win column after losing to Lander earlier in the week. Anderson showed depth with seven players recording at least one goal and strong defense holding the Hawks to just two goals.

How it Happened

Anderson started strong from the first draw of the game. They scored 11 goals in the first period with five coming from free position shots. Zella Stratbucker scored the first goal of the game less than a minute into play. Hannah Thomas netter five goals in the first quarter while Alicia Cannon had three, Stratbucker had two, and Gwen Ontiveros added one more for the Trojans in the first period. Cameryn Barrow scored both goals for the Hawks before heading into the second period.

In the second quarter, Thomas scored three more goals for the Trojans. Cannon added one more while Laine Stanton netted one off a free position shot.

The second half started strong again with Cannon scoring under a minute into the half. Ontiveros and Lili Bouwma each added one for the Trojans in the third quarter.

Ten seconds into the fourth period, Cannon scored again putting the Trojans on top 20-2. Ontiveros added another off an assist from Stanton before Cassidy Jones netted the last goal of the game under two minutes to play.

Notables

Hannah Thomas led all scorers with eight goals.

Alicia Cannon had six goals, two assists, and won ten draw controls.

Lili Bouwma and Gwen Ontiveros each had two assists.

Kora Turner made five saves for the Trojans between the posts.

The Trojans won draw controls 19-9.

Ariel Johnson from Chowan made nine saves in goal for the Hawks.
