Lady Trojans Drop To Fourth

CLEMMONS, N.C. -- The Anderson University women's golf team shot a 349 in the second round to drop to fourth place in the Conference Carolinas Tournament Monday at the Salem Glen Golf Club. The race for first place got tighter in the second round as tournament leader Pfeiffer's lead was trimmed to one shot by Belmont Abbey. Pfeiffer shot a 319 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 634. Belmont Abbey shot a 314 in the second round to stand at 635 with one round to play. Limestone made a 25-shot improvement in the second round to move into third place. The Saints shot a 328 in the second round for a 681 total, 11 shots ahead of Anderson. Queens University of Charlotte is fifth at 713, and Mount Olive is sixth at 724. Charlene Reid of Pfeiffer shot another 76 for a 152 total and the individual lead by two shots over Katie Clayton of Limestone, Brittany Beltran of Pfeiffer, and Carley Warrington of Belmont Abbey. Clayton shot the low round of the tournament -- 1-over-71 -- in the second round. Anderson's scores in the second round were Hayley Parks 82, Sophie Dembroski 88, Kim Hausman 89, and Lindsay Vallo 90. Dembroski is in 11th place at 169. The final round will be played Tuesday morning.
