Women's Golf Team In Sixth Place

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Anderson University women's golf team is in sixth place after Monday's first round of the Ralph Hargett Invitational at the Olde Sycamore Golf Club. Belmont Abbey leads after the first round with a score of 334. The Crusaders are followed by Wingate (348), Tusculum (356), Newberry (363), and Armstrong Atlantic (363). Franziska Blum of Newberry is the individual leader after the first round with a 78. Liz Cortez of Belmont Abbey, Ashley Denton of Wingate and Shannon Smith of Wingate all shot 81 to land in a tie for second. Anderson was led by Sophie Dembroski with an 83. She was followed by Lindsay Vallo 92, Hayley Parks 93, Kim Hausman 98, and Elizabeth Belanger 98. The second round will be played Tuesday morning.
