Berry Slips Past Pfeiffer To Take Title

LITTLE RIVER, S.C. -- Berry College shot a 324 in the final round to slip past first-round leader Pfeiffer and take the team title in the Lenior-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate at the River Hills Golf and Country Club Tuesday. Berry finished with a 36-hole total of 639, four shots better than Pfeiffer. Montevallo was third at 645, Tusculum was fourth at 650, and Belmont Abbey finished fifth at 652. Anderson University improved by three shots in the second round (338-335) to move up one spot in the final standings to ninth place. Sophie Dembroski led Anderson in the final round with a 78. Anderson's other three scores in the final round were Hayley Parks 81, Kim Hausman 86, and Elizabeth Belanger 90. Morgan Bell of Montevallo (75-73) beat Katie Clayton of Limestone (73-75) in a playoff to take the individual title. Brittany Beltran and Charlene Reid, both of Pfeiffer, finished third and fourth, respectively.
