ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University head women's basketball coach Jim Brunelli has announced the signing of Jennifer Monroe from Daniel High School and Katie Davis out of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School to national letters of intent.

"I am very excited to add Katie and Jennifer to the Trojan family," Brunelli said. "Both of these young ladies come from strong high school and AAU programs. But even more importantly, they come from great families. Both of these players' best years are ahead of them."

Monroe, a 5-foot-10 forward/guard from Clemson, averaged 13 points, eight rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks for head coach Cosandar Griffin's Lady Lions last season while helping lead Daniel to an outstanding 23-2 record.

She was an Independent-Mail all-area selection after earning All-Region 1-AAA and All-State accolades following both her junior and senior campaigns and was a member of South Carolina North/South All-Star Team in 2012.

Monroe also earned a spot on the All-Tournament team following the inaugural Skins Upstate Holiday Classic last December and was named to the 2010 McDonald's ShootOut All-Tournament Team.

"Jennifer will bring more athleticism to our team," Brunelli noted. "She has the ability to play inside and outside on both ends of the court. Jennifer's ability to score points, grab rebounds and defend will impact our team immediately."

Davis is a 6-foot-2 center/forward who averaged 9.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and two steals last season, while her four blocked shots per game led the Cap 8 Conference. She connected on 38 percent of her shots from the field and 81 percent from the charity stripe as a senior last season.

She was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Brianna Williams' Lady Cougars and served two seasons as team captain, while garnering First-Team Cap 8 All-Conference honors and was named MVP following her senior season. Davis was named to the Carolina Christmas Apparel Holiday All-Tournament team and performed in the classroom as well as on the court - earning Academic All-Conference accolades four times. She was named an AP Scholar and was voted "Outstanding Senior" by the faculty at Wake Forest-Rolesville.

Davis served on the Senior Executive Committee of WFRHS' National Honor Society and was a Huddle Leader for FCA, while serving as an appointed member of the Town of Wake Forest Youth Advisory Board. She also volunteers as a CORE youth leader at her local church in missions and outreach.

"Katie is a very fundamentally sound player who can fill up a stat line," Brunelli added. "With her height she will add depth to our post position. Katie is versatile in that she can face up as well as play with her back to the basket.

With the addition of Jennifer and Katie alongside our early signee, Madison Floyd, this has the potential to be an outstanding recruiting class," Brunelli concluded.

The pair joins Floyd, who signed in November, as newcomers for the 2012 campaign. Floyd attended Broome High School, where the 5-foot-6 guard, averaged 17.1 points, four assists and 2.5 steals per game for head coach Kim Goode's Centurions as a junior. She was named was the Region II-2A Player of the Year and was an all-state selection in 2011, while helping lead Broome to a 23-4 overall record. She averaged 20.9 points and more than five assists per game as a senior.
