ANDERSON, S.C. - Using a late second-half run, Anderson defeated Lincoln Memorial, 67-62, in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Abney Athletic Center.

With the win, Anderson (6-8, 3-3 SAC) snapped a five-game skid, while Lincoln Memorial slipped to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference by dropping its second consecutive contest.

Trailing by two, 25-23, at the half, the Trojans opened the second half with a 13-4 run, fueled by three 3-pointers from sophomore guard Emily Willoughby and a pair of baskets by junior guard Alissa Diaz.

Ironically, Willoughby connected on a then-conference record eight treys against the Lady Railspiltters last season in the Abney Center. Her first 3-pointer came from deep on the right wing, with Diaz sandwiching two baskets around an LMU jumper and Willoughby adding her fourth and fifth treys inside the 18-minute mark, giving AU a 36-29 lead.

But the Lady Railsplitters countered by scoring 10 unanswered points as part of a 17-4 run over the next six minutes to claim their largest lead of the game, 46-40, with 11:36 left.

The Trojans battled back to knot the score for the seventh time of the contest, at 48 apiece, and still trailed 52-48 at the 7:14 mark before erupting on a 16-2 outburst over the next five minutes to push out to their largest lead of the game, at 64-54, with 2:09 on the clock.

Freshman guard Lauren Woods knocked down three free throws to spark the surge and Willoughby followed with her final 3-pointer of the game, while junior forward Breonda Shannon added six points as the Trojans put the game out of reach.

Shannon led all scorers with a season-high 20 points and narrowly missed recording her fourth double-double of the season by pulling down nine rebounds. Willoughby added a season-best 18 points on the strength of 6-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc, while Diaz chipped in 14 points and swiped three steals.

Two Lady Railsplitters garnered double-doubles, as Lauren Cochran scored 14 points and recorded 11 rebound, while Ralissa Nelson added 13 points and collected 12 boards. Dayshalee Salaman netted 14 points and handed out six assists.

Anderson wraps up its brief conference homestand by playing host to Tusculum on Wednesday. Tip-off at the Abney Center is slated for 6 p.m.
