HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Anderson University women's basketball team wrapped up its regular-season road schedule with an 81-69 setback to Lincoln Memorial in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday night at Tex Turner Arena.
With both teams battling for position in the league tournament, Anderson (10-14, 7-9 SAC) suffered its second setback in the last three outings, while Lincoln Memorial (13-11, 8-8 SAC) has won four of its last five.
The Trojans fell behind, 16-4, less than five minutes into the contest, but rallied to pull within just a single point on the strength of an 18-7 outburst with 7:23 remaining in the first half.
Freshman Lesley Woods' first 3-pointer of the night sparked the run as AU scored seven unanswered points. Junior forward Tilde Ahlin fueled the surge with five points, while six different Trojans contributed during the run as the Trojans climbed within 23-22.
But the Lady Railsplitters countered by closing the half with a 16-4 outburst of their own to take a 39-26 halftime lead.
Anderson scored the first six points of the final half to trim the deficit to single digits, at 39-32, inside the first minute, but it was as close as AU would get, as Lincoln Memorial steadily pushed out to a 71-46 advantage midway through the half.
Junior Alissa Diaz led the Trojans with 16 points and eight steals, while Lauren Woods tallied a career-high 15 points. Lesley Woods added nine points, just one shy of her career high.
LMU senior guard Dayshalee Salaman led all scorers with 26 points, while Lauren Cochran and MaRanda Boddie each netted 14 points.
Anderson opens its final two-game homestand of the regular season when Wingate invades the Abney Athletic Center on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
