GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Anderson University men's soccer team picked up a point on the road at Tusculum on Wednesday (Oct. 5) finishing in a 1-1 draw against the Pioneers.
The Trojans entered the match coming off a 3-1 victory over the weekend at Emory & Henry, with goals coming from Juan Jose Alvarez, Lucas Goldberg, and Pablo Sanz. Anderson carried this momentum into the first half on Wednesday evening, as in the 23rd minute Andres Osorio played a long through ball to Lucas Goldberg, who found the back of the net to give the Trojans a 1-0 advantage.
Anderson's defense held strong, fighting off a fierce Tusculum attack as the Pioneers outshot the Trojans eight to one in the first half of play, and 17 to three for the entire match while also having the advantage in corner kicks six to zero. Goalkeeper Amos Uber picked up eight saves on the evening, with five coming in the second half. The Trojan back line kept the game at 1-0 until the 88th minute, when the ball was loose in the box and escaped the Anderson back line, finding the back of the net to equalize the match 1-1.
The Trojans will return to Spero Financial Field on Saturday (Oct. 8) as they play host to the Coker University Cobras. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m., with coverage available at www.autrojans.com.
