Men’s Soccer Adds Four More to the Class of 2016

ANDERSON, S.C. - After making a run in the South Atlantic Conference tournament a year ago, Anderson head coach Michael Zion continues to look to build on the momentum from that experience. Zion announced four more student-athletes to his 2016 signing class on Monday, increasing the number to eight signees.

The Black and Gold welcome: Cameron Emerson (Hawkes Bay, New Zealand /Mount Albert Grammar/Patrick Henry Community College), Colin Burris (Milton, Ga./Milton High School), Sindri Runarsson (Selfoss, Iceland/Fjolbrautaskoli Sudurlands) and Myles Duncan (Evans, Ga./Greenbrier High School) to the team for the upcoming campaign, as they will be joining Shinya Nagata, Landon Goodman, Austin Fain and Emil Johansson to the Class of 2016.

Zion on his signing class: "This recruiting class was all about finding the right players and I think our staff has done just that. We are looking forward to finally see these guys in an AU jersey. We are excited to see what type of an impact they are going to make."

Name: Cameron Emerson
Position: Midfielder/Forward
Hometown: Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
Previous School: Mount Albert Grammar/Patrick Henry Community College
Club: Eastern Suburbs AFC

Club accomplishments: Premier Men's Division Champion, Chatham Cup Winners

Zion on Emerson: "We are excited about Cam and what he will be able to bring to the team. He is a gritty, hardnosed player that also has a lot of quality and creativity to his game. He is transferring from a strong program at Patrick Henry CC who has a great coaching staff. His experience in the US college system will no doubt help him settle in quickly. We are looking forward to seeing the impact that Cam will be able to make on this team."

Name: Colin Burris
Position: Center Midfield
Hometown: Milton, Ga.
Previous School: Milton High School
Club: UFA Norcross

Club accomplishments: Champions of Disney Showcase 2014, Semi Finalists of State Cup in 2015, 1st in RPL East, 5th in National League, Finalist in Disney Showcase 2015.

High School accomplishments: MVP Freshman-Junior, Team Captain (Junior and Senior), 2nd round of playoffs in 2015. 2016 Region 5, 6A Champions.

Zion on Burris: "Colin is a very talented player with a high soccer IQ. Coming to Anderson from Milton, GA, he played his club soccer with the UFA 98 Norcross Fury. With UFA, Colin helped his team achieve great success this season by finishing 5th in the U18 National Premiere League, 1st in the U18 Premier division of the Region III Premier League, as well as becoming finalists in the 2015 Disney Showcase. Colin has the ability to really link up well with his teammates on the field. We feel that Colin's quality on the ball and ability to read the game will translate well at the college level."

Position: Center Midfield
Hometown: Selfoss, Iceland
Previous School: Fjolbrautaskoli Sudurlands
Club: Selfoss FC

Zion on Runarsson: "Sindri joined the team in the spring and has settled in quickly. He is an intelligent and experienced player, who will no doubt bolster our midfield. His presence and size, combined with his technical ability will make him a constant threat against opposition. We see him making an immediate impact in the South Atlantic Conference and are looking forward to helping him reach his potential."

Name: Myles Duncan
Position: Center Forward
Hometown: Evans, Ga.
Previous School: Greenbrier
Club: SC Bulls 98

Zion on Duncan: "Myles first caught the attention of our staff at the AU ID camp and from that moment we knew he had a lot of potential. He is a big strong player with good technical ability. He has an uncanny ability to put himself in goal scoring positions. We are looking forward to watching Myles grow as a player and helping him develop his game at the college level."
