Men’s Soccer Prepares for Regionally-Ranked Carson-Newman

ANDERSON, S.C. - After rounding out a four-match road trip on Wednesday, Anderson University men's soccer returns to the Upstate on Saturday when it welcomes Carson-Newman in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. Kick-off from the Upward Star Center is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

The Trojans
Coming off a setback at No. 21 Young Harris on Wednesday, AU is 3-4-1 on the season and look to jump over the .500 mark in the conference on Saturday with a 2-2 SAC record. Anderson enters the weekend having not dropped a match at home in five straight matches dating back to last season. The Trojans are 4-0-1 inside Trojan Stadium since Oct. 10, 2014.

Freshman midfielder Erik Dahlbeck currently leads the Trojans in goals with three, as he has tallied goals in three of AU's last five contests. Fellow newcomer Lars Kaula follows Dalhbeck in the goals category with two goals on 12 shots.

Defensively, redshirt junior Devon Ashy continues to lead the SAC in saves, becoming the first goalkeeper in the conference to eclipse the 40-save mark with 43 on the year. Ashy has totaled six saves in his last two matches, including his third shutout this season over Tusculum on Sept. 26.

The Eagles
Carson-Newman enters the weekend on a four-match winning streak and hold a 3-1 conference mark, which slots the Eagles alone in third place in the current SAC standings. Overall, C-N is 6-1-1 for the year and has scored a goal in every match this season, averaging 2.75 goals per match. Currently, C-N is ranked seventh in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Southeast Region Poll.

Senior Nick Skoda and sophomore Thibault Mathorez lead the Eagles in goals scored with four apiece, as the team has out-scored their opponents, 22-10, for the year. The 22 goals are the most by a SAC team this season, as Carson-Newman also leads the SAC in shot percentage with a .183 mark.

Senior goalkeeper Kavi Luchowa has seen over 717 minutes between the posts for the Eagles, as Luchowa has stopped 37 shots and is responsible for a pair of shutouts.

The Series
Anderson seeks its first win over Carson-Newman since 2011, as the Eagles have posted four straight victories over the Trojans including a NCAA Tournament match in 2013. AU's last victory came from the 2011 season, as the Trojans claimed a 3-1 triumph.
