ANDERSON, S.C. - Despite a seventh-minute goal off the foot of junior Lars Kaula to open the match, Anderson University allowed two first-half goals and dropped a 2-1 decision to South Atlantic Conference rival Lincoln Memorial on Saturday at Trojan Stadium.

With the setback, the Trojans fall to an even 7-7-1 overall record with a 6-4 mark within the SAC. The Railsplitters, who are coming off a home loss in their last conference match, improve to 9-3-1 for the campaign with a 6-3-1 league record.

Despite the setback, Anderson found the scoreboard first with a Lincoln Memorial defender was whistled for a handball inside the Railsplitter box. With a penalty kick award, Kaula stepped up and remained perfect on the season with his sixth goal from the penalty spot this season to give the Black and Gold an early one-goal advantage.

The visitors climbed back in the 36th minute when Danilo da Silva took advantage of a giveaway by the Trojan backline. da Silva fired a shot from 25 yards away and riffled it over the head of AU goalkeeper Devon Ashy for his third tally of the year. With the goal, LMU evened the score at 1-1.

Moments later in the 37th minute, da Silva found space along the far side of the pitch and stormed past a couple Anderson defenders. Dribbling himself into the Trojan box, da Silva flicked a pass to teammate Philip Wong as he pushed a shot to the far post to give LMU a 2-1 lead, which eventually set the halftime score.

In the final 45 minutes, the Trojans recorded just two shots from Brad Du Plooy and Nick Bryant and could not find their equalizer. For the match, AU was out-shot by the visitors, 15-7, as da Silva totaled a match-high five.

Ashy grabbed one save for the 90 minutes, while his counterpart, Pedro Ozi, tallied four saves for the afternoon.

The Trojans return to Trojan Stadium on Wednesday when they celebrate Senior Day against Francis Marion. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m.
