Men’s Soccer Enters NSCAA Southeast Region Poll at No. 10

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Following its convincing 4-2 triumph over South Atlantic Conference rival Catawba on Saturday, Anderson University men's soccer made its first appearance in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Southeast Region Poll at the No. 10 spot, announced by the NSCAA on Tuesday.

The Trojans currently boast a 7-5-1 overall record with a 6-2 mark in conference play, as they sit in a tie for second place with Carson-Newman in the SAC standings. Entering the week, AU has claimed victories in four of its last five matches, headlined by winning its last five SAC contests. Since a 4-0 setback at nationally-ranked Young Harris, the Black and Gold have averaged 2.8 goals per game, spanning over a five-match period.

Anderson makes its first appearance in the NSCAA Southeast Region Poll since cracking the list at the No. 10 spot on Sept. 23, 2014. This week, the Trojans are one of four teams from the SAC in the poll, as Carson-Newman and Wingate claimed the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Lincoln Memorial, which comes to Trojan Stadium on Saturday for Homecoming, grabbed the No. 7 slot, three positions ahead of Anderson.

Pfeiffer, which has yet to drop a match in 2015, claims the top spot ahead of the SAC tandem in second and third. Young Harris dropped a spot to No. 4 following a 3-0 setback at C-N earlier in the week, while Lander is fifth despite closing last week with a 1-2 record. Limestone grabbed the sixth spot, just ahead of LMU, while Peach Belt Conference representatives Flagler and Clayton State were positioned above Anderson in eighth and ninth, respectively.

Anderson continues SAC play on Wednesday when it travels to Queens, searching for its first win over the Royals since becoming SAC rivals in 2013. Kick-off from the Queen City is set for 5 p.m.
