Beck Continues Minor League Success – Earns First Win with Palm Beach Cardinals

ANDERSON, S.C. - After being promoted to the Palm Beach Cardinals (Class-A Advanced) in mid-May, former Trojan hurler Landon Beck continues to build his diamond resume with impressive performances on the mound.

The Hartwell, Ga. native, has made six relief appearances since moving to the Florida State League squad from Peoria less than three weeks ago. Beck earned his first save with the Cardinals in their 9-6 win over Clearwater on May 21, after surrendering one hit and walking one batter while striking out three in an inning of work.

He tossed two full innings last Friday night en route to capturing his first victory, while allowing a pair of hits and one earned run while walking one and fanning three batters in the Cards' narrow 3-2 home win over the Jupiter Hammerheads.

After beginning the season with Peoria and making 10 appearances for the Chiefs, Beck has worked 8 1/3 innings with Palm Beach and is 1-0 on the season with the save. The 6-foot-3 right-hander has allowed just one earned run on five hits, while striking out 10 and issuing four free passes. He is limiting opponents to just a .179 batting-average-against with Palm Beach and sports a sterling 1.08 ERA.

Beck began his professional career with the Johnson City Cardinals in the Coastal Plains League and worked his way up to the New York-Penn League's State College Spikes before moving to Peoria last August. He was in the Chiefs' starting rotation last August and transitioned to the bullpen when the 2016 season began in early April. With State College and Peoria he was 2-6 last season in 13 games and 11 starts with one save. He was selected by the Cardinals in the 25th round of the 2014 draft.
