Box score

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson baseball team opened a four-game homestand with a 14-4 loss to Conference Carolinas' opponent Limestone, Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium.

Anderson fell to 16-22 on the season and saw its win streak halted at three, while Limestone opened a five-game road swing with the win, while improving to 15-25 by snapping a two-game skid.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Senior Kyle Bailey was 2-for-4 at the plate with a single, a double and a walk. Outfielder Garrett Bernardo added a pair of singles and a walk, with senior Steven Cooper going 2-for-4, with a walk.

Junior Thomas Smith (2-4) absorbed the loss after surrendering nine runs on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings of work. He walked two and struck out one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After Limestone opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, Miller began the bottom of the inning with the first of his two walks and came around to score on a wild pitch.

Bernardo opened the Trojans' second inning with a walk, stole second and gave AU a 2-1 edge when Cooper drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs.

But the Saints erupted for eight runs with two outs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.

Cooper's one-out single with Matthew Powell and Bailey on base in the bottom of the fourth trimmed Limestone's lead to 9-4, but it was as close as the Trojans would get, as the Saints posted a pair of runs in both the eighth and ninth innings to set the final score.
