Five Trojans Capture Women’s Indoor Track and Field All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS - Five Trojans have earned All-Region honors as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Freshman Alex Dixon, seniors Sydney Hazel and Savanna Keese and sophomores Bari Robinson and Sherin Malone each garnered the accolades by being one of the top five individuals in each event in the Southeast Region or members of the regions' top three relay teams.

Dixon, Hazel, Malone and Robinson earned the recognition for their performances in the distance medley relay, with Malone also capturing the honor for the 60 meter hurdles. Keese was recognized for her tosses in the weight throw.

Women's All-Region honors went to 519 women, chief among whom was New Mexico Highland's Salcia Slack. The senior from Kingston, Jamaica, racked up All-Region honors in seven events - more than any other men's or women's athlete in the five-year history of the award.

Maria Curit of Stonehill was next with five, while 18 more women accumulated four awards apiece.

Anderson opens its outdoor slate at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in mid-March.
