YOUING HARRIS, Ga. - The Anderson softball team opened an eight-game road swing by dropping a doubleheader to Young Harris, 8-2 and 10-5, Wednesday afternoon at E.D. Rivers Field.

Anderson (15-3) had its 10-game win streak snapped with the setback in the opener, while Young Harris (8-6) has won seven straight and improved to 6-0 at home.

Freshman centerfielder Molly Child led the Trojans offensively by recording two hits, including a double and had two RBI.

Brittany Henry (2-0) struck out nine and scattered five hits to earn the win for the Mountain Lions, while Lauren Bell (9-1) suffered her first loss for the Trojans.

Anderson snapped a scoreless tie in the third when Child singled to score Samantha Young from second with one out in the inning, while Bell held Young Harris scoreless through three innings. But the Mountain Lions took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs on two hits in the fourth frame.

The Trojans responded by knotting the score at 2-2 in the fifth, as Young beat out an infield single and crossed the plate on Child's two-out double to right-center.

But Young Harris countered with three in the bottom of the inning to claim a 5-2 advantage and the Mountain Lions tallied three more runs in the sixth, while the Trojans were unable to score in their half of the seventh inning.

Molly Child recorded two hits and a walk in four trips to the plate and drove in two runs, while Danielle Swygert was 2-for-3 and registered an RBI.
Young Harris took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two on a Kayla Jones double - her first of three in the nightcap. Anderson tied the game at two in the second on a Molly Child single and the Trojans took advantage of a Young error for their other run.

The Trojans scored three times in the fourth to open up a 5-2 lead. Molly Child, Abby Child and Danielle Swygert had back-to-back-to-back two-out RBI hits. However, the Mountain Lions, who had seven of their 15 hits go for extra bases in game two, rallied for eight runs as they batted around the order in the fifth and sixth innings against Anderson starter Bailey Smith (6-2) to take a 10-5 lead.

Jones and Henry had RBI doubles, Stacia Williams and Holloway each contributed run-scoring singles before Sarah Magill closed out the fifth with a RBI triple. Jones added a two-run double and Henry drove in the final run with another double of her own.

Darby Stanford (5-2) battled for seven innings to pick up the win for Young Harris. Sydnee Weaver also collected five hits in the doubleheader while Henry added four more for the Mountain Lions.

The Trojans will compete at the Mid-South Classic in Duncan, S.C. at Tyger River Park on Friday. AU will square off against Mansfield (Pa.) at 4 p.m. and will face Ohio Dominican at 6 p.m.
