Baseball Drops Midweek Decision to No. 8 Georgia College

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson baseball team stepped out of conference play and dropped an 11-2 decision to Peach Belt Conference-foe Georgia College, Wednesday night at Memorial Stadium.

Anderson (4-6) suffered its fourth consecutive setback, while the eighth-ranked Bobcats improved to 6-1 with its second straight win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Trojan offense was limited to just five singles and 10 base runners through the first seven innings. First baseman Brayden Owens was 2-for-4 on the night, with a pair of singles, while freshman Kevin Sosa was 1-for-3 with a bunt single in the third inning. Senior Will Lindsey added an eighth-inning double and scored a run, with Tyler Berry, Davis Goodyear and Nick Vella each recording a single.

Sophomore Ethan Stalnecker (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing just two runs on five hits over 4 2/3 innings of work on the mound. He struck out three Bobcats and walked two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After two scoreless innings, the Bobcats got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the top of the third, while AU cut the deficit in half when Jackson Van Ness was hit by a pitch and eventually scored on Jacob Kohn's sacrifice fly.

Georgia College added three more runs in the sixth inning and took a 7-1 lead with two more runs in the top of the seventh. After the Bobcats posted a three-run eighth frame, AU's Lindsey went the opposite way for a one-out double down the left field line, moved to third on a wild pitch and crossed the plate on Goodyear's single through the left side.

The Bobcats added another run in the top of the ninth to finish out the scoring.
