Katie Landry and Davis Goodyear Named Jimmy John’s Female and Male Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's track standout Katie Landry and baseball's Davis Goodyear have been named the Jimmy John's Female and Male Athletes of the Week.

Landry, a junior from Ashland, Mass., shattered the school record last weekend at the Montreat College Invitational in the heptathlon with 4,351 points and is now ranked sixth in the nation. Landry also set a personal best in the javelin by throwing 38.43 meters, which now ranks her third in the South Atlantic Conference. Landry's performance helped propel the Trojans to a second-place finish at the event with a total of 61 points.

Goodyear helped lead the baseball team to a split of a doubleheader at UVA Wise last Friday. He was a perfect 6-for-6 at the plate in the twin bill, with three doubles, three singles and a walk, while scoring three times and driving in a pair of runs in his first appearances at the plate since early March. With nine total bases on the day, Goodyear posted a 1.500 slugging percentage and a 1.000 on-base percentage during the doubleheader.

As the designated hitter in the opener, Goodyear had two of the Trojans' six hits – both singles. He was 4-for-4 in the nightcap, with three doubles, a single and also drew a walk, while scoring three times and driving in two runs.

Each week, one male and one female student-athlete are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
