Women’s Golf Finishes 10th at SAC Championship

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Led by junior Braiden Furtick's 30th-place finish, the Anderson women's golf team slipped one spot and finished 10th at the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Championship, which was hosted by Carson-Newman at the par-72, 5859-yard Sevierville Country Club.

Carson-Newman, which trailed defending champion Wingate by eight strokes following Monday's second round, overtook both the Bulldogs and first-round leader Newberry to win its third conference title and first since 2011. The Eagles defeated the Wolves by seven shots, while topping Wingate by eight strokes.

Lincoln Memorial moved up one spot and finished 11 strokes behind Wingate, with Queens holding the fifth spot. Catawba finished sixth and Coker was seventh. Tusculum, Mars Hill, Anderson, and Lenoir-Rhyne rounded out the 11-team field.

Lincoln Memorial's Lindsay Davis posted a 13-over-par three-round 229 and overcame a five-shot deficit to claim individual medalist honors by one stroke over runner-up Danielle Baiunco of Carson-Newman, while finishing three shots in front of Newberry's Karly Mims. The Wolves' Eline Askeland and Queens' Grace Glaze, the tourney's second-round leader, finished four shots behind the leader and tied for fourth.

Furtick (84-84-83=251) shared the 30th spot with Lenoir-Rhyne's Elizabeth Ewing, while senior Sarah Timms (89-83-88=260) finished alone in 38th. Fellow senior Natalie Feder (90-84-90=264) placed 44th, with junior Arista Setro (90-87-101=278) claiming 54th. Junior Garyt Hamilton (97-96-101=294) wrapped up the Trojan contingent in 57th place.
