Women’s Golf Finishes 16th at Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. - Led by junior Braiden Furtick's two-day 17-over-par 161, the Anderson women's golf team placed 16th at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, co-hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne and Lincoln Memorial.

Florida Tech led wire-to-wire and captured the team title at the two-day event, held at Sea Trail Golf Resort's Rees Jones Course, a 5,810 yard, par 72 layout.

The Panthers (299-290=589) posted a two-day 13-over-par team score to capture the title by 15 shots over Wingate (307-297=604) and 21 strokes over Limestone (308-302=610). Newberry (307-306=613) slipped from a tie for second to finish fourth, seven strokes in front of both Erskine (314-306=620) and Lincoln Memorial (313-307=620), which shared fifth. King (314-308=622), Queens (314-308=622), Coker (318-304=622) and Catawba (321-306=627) rounded out the top 10.

The Trojans (337-332=669) finished two strokes behind Belmont Abbey and trailed Pfeiffer and Barton by five shots, while leading Lenoir-Rhyne by seven shots and Mars Hill by eight.

Florida Tech's Johanna Larsson posted the lone sub-par score of the tourney, with a 4-under-par 140 to claim individual medalist honors by four strokes over Wingate's Natalia Segura (72-72=144).

Furtick (80-81=161) finished in a tie for 49th, with senior Natalie Feder firing a two-day total 166 to place 66th. Senior Sarah Timms carded a 168 and finished 69th, while junior Garyt Hamilton (89-85=174) rounded out the Trojan effort in a tie for 81st.

The Trojans are slated to get back on the links on Monday at Catawba's Patsy Rendleman Memorial in Salisbury, N.C.
