Women’s Golf in 14th at Wingate’s Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. - Led by sophomore Sarah Timms' 14-over-par 86, the Anderson University women's golf team is in 14th following opening-round action Monday at the Pinehurst Challenge, hosted by Wingate at the par 72, 5,840 yard National Golf Club.

Timms shares 36th place, while freshman Garyt Hamilton is five shots further back with her 19-over-par 91 and is tied for 56th. Fellow freshman Braiden Furtick posted a first-round 92 and is tied for 63rd, while sophomore Natalie Feder (100) is in 81st. Freshman Arista Setro carded a first-round 105 and shares 85th heading into Tuesday's final round.

AU (369) trails 13th-place Coker by 10 strokes and is four strokes ahead of Otterbein University (373) and 25 shots in front of Barton. UNC Pembroke (322) leads the event by three shots over the host Bulldogs (325) and is four in front of both Carson-Newman (326) and Lincoln Memorial (326).

The Challenge will conclude on Tuesday.
