MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Junior Katie Eskew fired a 7-over-par 79 to lead the Anderson women's golf team, as the Trojans sit in 11th place following opening-round action Monday at Lenoir-Rhyne's Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate at the 5,988 yard par-72 Sea Trail Golf Resort.
Eskew's first-round 79 placed her in a three-way tie for 22nd,
while sophomore Sarah Timms was five shots further back with an 84
in a tie for 45th. Fellow sophomore Natalie Feder's 85 earned her a
share of 49th, while freshman Braiden Furtick carded an 87 and is
tied for 55th. Garyt Hamilton fired an 88 and sits in a tie for
59th.
Jillian Corum of Tusculum, Virginia Lane of Mount Olive and Lauren
Petty of St. Leo are tied for the individual lead with an even-par
72.
Saint Leo leads the two-day tournament after carding an opening-round 291. Lincoln Memorial is in second, 15 shots back. Queens University of Charlotte is third after a 313, followed by Tusculum. The Trojans are one shot ahead of Barton and one shot behind Erskine.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday.
