CVAC CHAMPS! Adkins, Jackson Lead AC To Title

PINEHURST, N.C. - Kathryn Adkins and Brandi Jackson finished 1-2 in the individual portion of the tournament to lead the Lady Trojans to the 2004 CVAC Championship title at the par-72, 5,800-yard Foxfire Golf and Country Club Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Trojans finished the 54-hole event at 1,035, four strokes in front of second-place Limestone. Anderson shot 345 in all three rounds of the tournament. Adkins, the CVAC Player of the Year, shot 84 in the third round for a 54-hole total of 249 to beat Jackson by one shot for the individual title. Jackson shot an 82 in the third round to finish at 250. Carlie Eastman, who finished seventh in the individual standings, shot her third consecutive round of 87 and Darcie Davis shot a 92 for Anderson's third and fourth scores in the final round. Anderson entered the final round with a 12-shot lead, but Limestone, led by Caroline Rankin, made a run at the Lady Trojans. Rankin shot an 82 and Limestone put together the best round of the tournament - 337 - but it wasn't enough to catch Anderson. The tournament was the first women's golf championship held by the CVAC.
