MARSHVILLE, N.C. -- The Anderson College women's golf team is tied for third place after Monday's first round of the J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Tournament at the Eagle Chase Golf Club. The Lady Trojans shot 359 in the first round on the par-72, 5,800-yard Eagle Chase course. N.C. State is the first round leader with a 325. Host Wingate is second at 351. Anderson is tied for third with Catawba, and Tusculum is fifth at 358. Anderson was led by Kathryn Adkins with an 84. Anderson's other three scores were: Brandi Jackson 88, Janie Wichert 90, and Carlie Eastman 91. Adkins is seventh in the individual standings, six shots behind Nancy Mountcastle and Lorraine Ballerano of N.C. State, who both shot 78 in the first round. The second round will be played Tuesday morning.
